Black Hat USA 2011: Theresa Payton - CEO - Fortalice

Tuesday, August 16, 2011

Theresa Payton is the Chief Advisor and CEO of Fortalice, and has over twenty years of business and technology leadership experience.

From May 2006 until September 2008, Theresa worked for the Bush Administration as the White House Chief Information Officer (CIO).

She was the first woman to hold this position, and her team served the President and the 3,000+ members of the Executive Office of the President.

As the founder of Fortalice, Theresa Payton, is not your average computer security consultant - she’s a Cyber Sentry.

She started her career in Banking Technology in 1990 working at Barnett, First Union (now Wells Fargo), and Bank of America.

She’s led strategic planning teams, managed mergers and acquisitions, run technology and operations for branches, internet and call centers, and has overseen fraud and risk management technology operations.

At Fortalice, Theresa delivers security, risk and fraud consulting services to private and public organizations.

One person at a time, she’s fighting back against cyber criminals and – by extension – supporting internet security for us all.

Theresa is also a frequent contributor at Infosec Island.

Jamie Adams I always enjoy Theresa's posts. My experience has always been with large organizations and business, so I tend to forget about small businesses.

Perhaps, some of my next posts will bring it back to basics for those small businesses.

Good interview...
